This blog is a counter-archive of sorts, an alternative perspective on the war in Ukraine, through a queer, leftist, feminist lens.

Who I am

I am a writer, academic, and filmmaker, based in Tkaronto, on the original territories of The Haudenasonee, the Huron-Wendat, the Anishnabeg, The Chippewa, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. I’ve written some books and made a few films. I teach media studies at X (Ryerson) University. I was born in Edmonton Alberta, in Treaty 6 Territory; my parents were born in western Ukraine, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. I’ve traveled to Ukraine many times, and have made two films there. I live in the spaces in-between; the condition of diaspora.
